2017-2018 Programs

December 2017:  Holiday Tea

We were entertained with carols by Grand View University students at the Grand View campus.

November 2017: Daring Discussions

We met on November 6th to eat and learn. Using the Daring Discussions model created by the Women’s March, we heard about the history of White Nationalism and learn how to discuss issues that may feel uncomfortable, but which are vitally important. Everyone went away with an action plan to discuss important national issues with our families and loved ones.

October 2017: Postcard Writing Event

Members gathered at Pagliai’s Pizza to eat, chat, and write postcards to our elected representatives.

August 2017: The New Leader Council

We learned about the New Leader Council, a program to help progressive millennials become more active in community activism and politics. As their website states, “NLC leaders take their activism back into their communities and workplaces to impact progressive change.” Kyrstin Shelley, a member of the 2017 class of NLC fellows discussed the program and encouraged younger leaders to join future cohorts.
